Marquitta Riggins is a native of Kansas City, Missouri, but was raised in Anniston. She serves as the Assistant Director of Development for the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind. She’s an alumna of Jacksonville State University, with a Bachelor of Arts in Behavioral Science and Master of Public Administration in Education. Marquitta serves as the Vice President of the Calhoun County Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. She has served on numerous community boards and committees in Calhoun County, Alabama and Columbus, Georgia, where she and her family previously resided. Marquitta is married to her high school sweetheart, Joey. Together, they have two sons: Freddie (21) and Quin (20), a grandson: Kamryn (3) and a newly adopted kitten named Shadow. When Marquitta is not working or spending time with her family, she enjoys volunteering in the community, watching Judge Judy, or working math problems (which is her form of comfort reading).
