Dancing with ‘Dega Stars is a fundraiser by the Alabama Council of the Blind that is held each year in Talladega, Alabama. Local Talladega “stars” are paired with professional dancers and they learn a dance routine and compete to become the winner of the competition. The judges pick a winner, the audience has a chance to vote for their favorite and there is also a fundraising award for the couple that raises the most money! All proceeds, including ticket sales, sponsorships and program ads go into a special Alabama Council of the Blind fund that is used to send blind and visually impaired individuals to college and technical schools.
